Mr.Obata brings over 20 years of top-level marketing experience in Japan’s life science business arena. He serves as a business producer to a wide variety of life science-related clients, including governmental bio cluster projects. Prior to BioAssociates, Mr.Obata held various strategic marketing roles, for 13 years, as a manager of Applied Biosystems Japan (formally Life Technologies Japan) which is a leading provider of innovative life science solutions (systems, consumables, reagents, and services enabling researchers to accelerate scientific exploration). He holds a BS in Agricultural Chemistry from Tamagawa University.
Toshi Ohashi, Business Producer
Mr. Ohashi has worked as professional consultant in the Life Science and Healthcare business for more than 30 years. He started at SRL, the single largest commercial reference laboratory in Tokyo, staying for 10 years before moving on to work for an American and European Medical and Life Science company at management level. He was CEO of Proteome Systems Japan, a joint venture of the Proteome analysis service between Proteome Systems Laboratories Pty. Ltd and Itochu Corporation. He was President and CEO of Cytyc Corporation Japan K.K. which introduced the ThinPrep Pap Test into the Japanese market. He holds a BA in Plant Physiology and Pedagogy from Hokkaido University of Education, awarded in 1973.
Toshiaki Somehara, Director, International Business Development
Mr. Somehara has over 18-years of experience in Life Science business development. Following a degree in Chemical Engineering from Kyoto University, he spent 17 years at Shimadzu Corporation before entering the Proteome Systems, the first company in the world to bring up the idea of “Proteome”, where he was involved in various research projects including pulmonary fibrosis, progeria, treatment markers for ovarian cancer, and rapid diagnosis technology for pulmonary tuberculosis. Furthermore, he has experience in the development and sales of bioinformatics platform products, as well as development of consumables for product development related to biotechnology, He has also held the position of Japanese market director at SRI (former Stanford Research Institute), where he was responsible for the development and sales of licensing medical products and clinical development technologies.
Shinobu Imajoh-Ohmi Ph.D., Scientific Advisor
Dr. Imajoh-Ohmi is formerly associate professor of Disease Proteomics Laboratory, The Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo.
In 2015, he joined BioAssociates as a scientific adviser. In addition to writing popular contents about Antibody in BioMarket.jp lifescience portal site, he is doing technical advisory work based on rich experience.
